AUSTRALIAN CREW ABANDONMENT FAVOURED (Pv Telegraph.—Pres? Association) WELLINGTON, Tuesday The Wellington Amateur Rowing Association decided to submit a remit to the annual meeting of the New Zealand Association, recommending that the invitation for an Australian crew to visit New’ Zealand in February be withdrawn. Members expressed the opinion that if war continued there would be very little likelihood of the visit eventuating. A further remit suggested was that all championship regattas be postponed for the duration of the war, but it was eventually decided that action be delayed till the end of December. Further remits to be submitted to file annual meeting of the New Zealand Association include a proposal to reduce championship races to the Olympic distance of a mile and aquarter. It was mentioned that if the remit were carried it would not affect the inter-provincial eights.
