TAUWHARE NOTES ENJOYABLE DANCE A well-attended dance organised by the Tauwhare Hall Committee, was held recently, when many visitors were present from the surrounding districts. Excellent music was supplied by Clayton’s Orchestra, extras being played by Mr W. Dingle. Mr Andrew Ramsay was master of ceremony. A novelty dance was won by Mr R. Arnold, and Mrs B. McLeod, and a competition was won by Mrs D. Fell. Among those present were Mesdames T. Neil, W. Robinson, B. McLeod, D. Fell, R. Neil, Matuschka, A. Pretty, jnr., W. Bath, Turner, R. Richardson, C. Robinson, L. Windsor. Misses M. Ramsay, N. Ramsay, Weir, J. Cranston, A. Goodare, R. Arnold, E. Milner, A. Windsor, G. Middlemas, M. Rothwell. EXCELLENT ENTERTAINMENT Excellent entertainment was offered at a concert recently given in the Tauwhare Hall. The programme was provided by the young people of Waikato East Presbvterian Church and the proceeds were divided between the public hall and the church funds. Part songs were sung by a party of glee-singers and further vocal numbers were given by Miss Elsie Shaw. Miss Lily Ringer and Mr Charlie Davison were responsible for humorous sketches. Piano-accordion and mouth-organ duets were given by Mr Maurice Eva and Mr Dick Goodare. National dances and tap-dancing were contributed by Misses Joyce Mclnnes and Jovce and Jean Pope. The remainder of the programme consisted of duologues and comedietta. Those taking part were Misses Lily Ringer, Gwen Hicks, Lucy Ringer, Joan McDowell, Elsie Shaw and Messrs Ivar Davison, Martin Sattrup, Bryson. Davison, Douglas McDowell, Russell, Sattrup and Charlie Davison. The announcer and stage-manager was Mr Douglas McDowell. Accompaniments were played by Mrs C. L. French and Miss Mavis Shaw.
