OHINEWAI SALE The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report that at their Ohinewai stock sale yesterday an average yarding of cattle was penned. Bidding for all classes was steady and values firm. Beef sold at late rates and a small yarding of boner and store cows was keenly sought. An entry of Shorthorn steers changed hands at late rates. Dairy cattle offered lacked quality and values accordingly were lower. Service bulls created quite fair interest, but prices were hardly up to values ruling at recent sales. Quotations: —Cattle: Young fat cows, £9 10s to £10; fat Jersey cows, £5 5s to £6 7s 6d; boner cows, £2 10s to £3 15s; forward-conditioned store cows, £4 5s to £5 18s; 2-year Jersey heifers, £3 15s to £3 18s; yearling Jersey heifers, £3 7s 6d; 3-year Shorthorn steers, £7; 2-year Shorthorn and P.A. steers, £4 8s; 2-year Jersey bulls, £7 10s to £8; 2-year Ayrshire bulls, £10; yearling Jersey bulls, £5 15s to £7; yearling Friesian bulls, £3; aged P.A. bulls, 61gns.; small yearling Jersey bulls, 30s. Dalgety and Co., Ltd. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report on their Ohinewai sale held on September 25 as follows: —There was a full yarding of all classes of cattle. Prices were on a par with recent rates, boners selling slightly better than at recent sales. Unfinished bullocks made £9 14s to £10; fat Jersey heifers, £6; fat Jersey cows, £5 to £5 17s; heavy boners, £3 10s to £4 4s; medium, £2 5s to £3 8s; light, £1 to £1 19s; yearling Jersey heifers, light condition, £2 15s to £3 12s; Jersey bulls, fair quality, £6 to £8 10s; small, £3 to £4 10s.
