POTATO GROWERS
“HOIST WITH OWN PETARD” TIRADE AGAINST DEALERS (By Telegraph.—Press Association) DUNEDIN, Tuesday Merchants express some indignation at the Canterbury potato growers’ tirade against the dealers handling Californian and Canadian potatoes. They assert that the growers deliberately withheld supplies to force high prices, and it was only when the Government arranged the importation that the farmers suddenly remembered their stocks. In other words, the merchants claim that the growers are hoist with their own petard.
