Mr E. W. C. Thorpe, of Hamilton, returned from Wellington this morning. Mr P. Reid, of Hamilton, returned from Wellington by the limited express this morning. Mr A. Seed, secretary to the New Zealand Sawmillers’ Federation, visited Hamilton to-day. Mr G. Gibson, a member of the New Plymouth Rotary Club, was a guest at the weekly luncheon of the Hamilton Club to-day. The Rt. Rev. C. A. Cherrington, Bishop of Waikato, was in New Plymouth at the week-end. He returned to Hamilton today. Mr E. L. Watkins, of Hamilton, was elected a life member of the Hamilton Orphans Club at the meeting on Saturday night. Messrs D. Sutcliffe, A. Wright (Auckland), G. Gibson (New Plymouth) and G. Riddell (Wellington) are at the Hamilton Hotel. Mr H. Baker, manager of the Hamilton North branch of the Bank of New Zealand, is visiting Dargaville. Mr A. St. C. Belcher, of Hamilton, has returned from Wellington, where he attended a meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union Council. Dr. G. H. Scholefteld, chief librarian of the General Assembly Library, and Messrs J. Norrie (Wellington), J. Barr (Auckland), and E. J. Bell (Canterbury) have been awarded honorary fellowships by the Library Association (London). Mr E. Gilbertson, who has been honorary coroner at Wellington for the past seven years, will retire at the end of the month. Mr Gilbertson, who is in his 84th year, came to New Zealand from London in 1879. For a long period he was clerk and engineer to the Patangata County Council, Hawke's Bay.
