HAMILTON ORPHANS

FINAL LADIES* NIGHT JOLLY TIME SPENT Attended by a large number of members and' their wives, the final “Ladies’ Night” of the Hamilton Orphans’ Club, which was held in the Winter Show H&ll on Saturday, proved to be a worthy successor to many similar enjoyable functions. Masses of flowering currant were arranged about the stage and the tables were decorated with bowls of golden daffodils, shaded polyanthus, lilies, and purple irises. A canopy of gaily coloured flags was suspended over the heads of the guests and Union Jacks were draped about the walls. The club banner, in blue and silver, held pride of place above the president’s table. An atmosphere of friendship and joviality prevailed and novelty hats added a humorous note to the scene. The president, Mr H. Baker, in welcoming the guests of the evening, remarked that apart from a little advice to the ladies he would not address the gathering as he had exhausted his eulogistic references to the fair sex. The Programme . A very enjoyable and varied programme was presented and later a savoury supper was served.
