“The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle”

As the title suggests, the story is based on the life story of the internationally famous dancers, Vernon and Irene Castle who, in the early part of the century, just before the World War, had achieved the same measure of success in the terpsichorean field as that enjoyed today by Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. It seems only fitting that the two greatest dancers of today should bring to the screen the life story of the greatest dancers of yesterday. Naturally, as “The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle” is a cavalcade of music and dancing, it holds more than passing interest. From its melody sprinkled story you will find such onetime hits (still popular today) as "Pretty Baby," “Oh, You Beautiful Doll," “When You Wore a Tulip," "By the Light of the Silvery Moon,” “Keep the Home Fires Burning," “By the Beautiful Sea," "Missouri Walts," “Row, Row, Row," "Tipperary" and dozens of others. In dancing, it is rich, even richer, if possible, than any Astaire—Rogers offering to date, because the waltz, the polka, fox-trot, castle walk and others which today are danced throughout the world are shown as they are introduced. They do not intrude In the picture, their entry is natural, and highly entertaining. A true life romance, this stary of Irene and Vernon Castle depicts the struggle of two people to win recog--1 nition, their fame and happiness clouded by the untimely death of V»rnon in an aeroplane crash during the War.
