AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP HOLDSWORTH SURVIVES (Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Wednesday The New Zealand amateur billiards championship was continued yesterday. In the afternoon session L. F. W. Holdswortli, of Auckland, the titleholder, defeated W. O'Neill, West Coast, by 666 points to 465. Holds-wo-rth secured breaks of 35, 32, 25, 37, 42, 34, 55, 50, 25, 20 and 29, and O'Neill 20, 28, 29, 26, 24, 23 and 30. An exciting finish was seen in the evening match between M. D. White, Auckland, and S. Moses, Wellington, the former winning by 28 points after his opponent had held a substantial lead shortly after passing the 400-mark. Moses made the first century break of the tournament. White's breaks were 21, 24, 25, 43, •22, 57, 7>B and 38. and Moses’ 23, 27, 32, 29, 11J, 34, 44, 35 and 56. The morning game was cancelled owing to W. Glass, of Otorohanga, being unable to be present because of 111© dislocation of the railway services. It will be played this morning.
