SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION

ANNUAL FANCY DRESS BALL FIUNKTON SCHOOL CHILDREN The Town Hall, Frankton Junction, was a scene of colour and gaiety reI cently on the occasion of the Frank- [ ton .School's annual fancy dress ball, j Large numbers of children, their par- ■ ents. old pupils and friends assembled |at this popular function. The childj ren did their work very well, and the ! infants’ items, as usual, were very interesting to the audience. The programme opened with the National Anthem, followed by the .junior grand march fprimers and standard 1). The senior grand march was presented at about 9 o'clock. Infants’ items were: Pop Goes the Weasel, Shoemakers, Danish Dance, | Galloped?, Oats and Beans and Barjley,; Standards 1 and 2 contributed j the German Clap Dance. Nuts in May, j and Grand Old Duke of York; items I by Standards 3 and i were Sellenger’s Mound, Ace of Diamonds, and Black Nag. The Old Mole. Gathering Peascods. and Indian Queen were danced by Forms 1 and 2, while the senior girls presented Dargason. Oldtime dancing by Standards 3 and 4, Forms 1 and 2 and. old pupils consisted of the veleta, log cabin, schottische, maxina and military two-step. During the foregoing programme, which terminated at about 10 o'clock, 1 the pupils and old pupils had supper in three groups. The supper room, decorated with red and blue streamers, vases of heather and early spring flowers, was efficiently attended by members of a women's committee comprising Mesdames L. F. McDonald (convener), Barnett, Hayvvwd, Gilmore. Sandos, Baty, Morris. Hemi, Collins, Wigzell, Haynes, Crabb, Higgins, Coulter, Bregmen, Patchell, and Misses Y. Graham, R. Kilham and J. Wigzell. After the children's items the adults present enjoved old-time dancing until midnight,* Mr R. A. Wigzell being the M.C. During the evening Mr J. F. Potter, the recently appointed headmaster, and Mr R. P. Kilham, chairman of the school committee, made short speeches.
