COUNTERFEIT NOTES CONVICT FOR TRIAL WARDER FINED £5 (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Aug. 22, 11 a.m.) LONDON, August 21 An Isle of Wight message states tint Horace Stone, a convict in Parkhurst Prison, was committed for trial on a charge of forging hank note*. Jt was stated in evidence that the prison authorities found photographic material in -Stone s cell, also negatives, prints, and ten shilling and pound notes. Frederick Caplin, a warder, was fined £5 for conveying photographic material into the gaol. He stated that he kept Btone supplied with the necessary paper.

On July 30 the police unearthed in astounding forgery of £1 notes uy prisoners in the Parkhurst Gaol. J*ie of Wight, one prisoner employed .n the studio where incoming prisoners were photographed stole a Jens, plat *s and sensitised paper, with which lie forged notes in the prison workshop. The man smuggled these notes out with the asistanee of a prison employee. Several were passed in local shops and a search of the cells revealed bundles of other notes. As the result of the forgeries, several warders kere suspended and some of the prisoners were confined in punishment cells.
