HAMILTON GIRL

SUCCESS IN SYDNEY SIGNS THREE MONTHS’ CONTRACT Word was received today that Miss Betty Welch, of Hamilton, who went to Sydney a fortnight ago to compete at the Eisteddfod, has just signed a three months’ contract with Mr George Edwards, to join his company for the recording of plays. Miss Welch, who performed at a concert at the Conservatorium a few days after her arrival in Sydney, is very thrilled with her success, for there are many New Zealanders trying, unsuccessfully, to "get in” in Australia. Her audition with Mr Edwards was the first he had given for 12 months. The Eisteddfod commenced last Wednesday, and with her numerous entries and her recording work Miss Welch will be kept very busy.
