AUCKLAND COUNCIL MEETS ARAPUM RESTRICTION LIFTED (Special to Times) PU T AIR UR U, Monday About -iO delegates and members attended the monthly meeting of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society council meeting in Putaruru on Saturday night, Mr F. E. McKenzie Auckland) being in the chair. It was stated by the secretary that, •al though fewer licenses had been issued, the new system of finance enabled the society to have £ls more this year upon which to work. Most of the existing regulations were reviewed at the meeting for the ensuing year, some minor amendments being decided upon in the lists of restricted or semi-restricted areas. It was decided to lift the restrictions on the Arapuni Lake area. "We now have a set of regulations for local rivers that has received commendation from several authorities,” remarked Mr McKenzie. ‘‘We are the only district with such a complete system, which is so different from changing year by year.” The issue of week-end licenses was discussed, but the question was deferred as no provisions were made for such in the regulations. Mr 11. C. Savage, of Auckland, was thanked for his donation of 300 trees for the Puketerua hatchery. It was stated by the president that Mr Savage had brought an expert nurseryman from Taranaki specially to plant the trees. The hatchery, already looked upon as perhaps the best in the Dominion, would become one of Auckland's beauty spots in a short time, lie said.
