IMPORTANT GAMES

STAG TROPHY RUGBY TWO MATCHES IN HAMILTON CHAMPIONSHIP NEARING THE END With four teams having three more games to play and the remaining five contestants only two, to-morrow's series in the Stag Trophy Rugby championship will be of vital importance. With the championship drawing to the end the issue becomes even more clouded, but some more definite forecast of the likely winner will be possible after the games to be played at three centres tomorrow. Hamilton enthusiasts are fortunate in that two big games are scheduled for Rugby Park tomorrow, when the crowd is sure to he large if the weather is at all favourable. Pride of place al headquarters has been given to Frankton and Rovers. Unfortunately both teams will be somewhat weakened by players travelling with the Waikato representative team, hut Frankton should win the game. Rovers has no chance of retaining supremacy again this year and must release its joint hold upon the trophy. Last year it held the Stag in partnership with Frankton and tomorrow's meeting of the two teams will, therefore, have added interest. Frankton has little chance of winning the championship, but the team has excellenf prospects of being in a place, perhaps third. The other game at Rugby Park will be of major importance as far as the destiny of the trophy is concerned. Un the number two ground Taupiri will meet Technical. Both teams have lost three players to the Waikato representatives and Taupiri may suffer the more from that. However, Taupiri played well last Saturday when two of the side's Waikato representatives were absent, and Technical will have no easy task. In fact, Taupiri may be expected to fight solidly for a victory. City and Old Boys If Technical fails fo win the game the side will have difficulty in winning the championship if City secures a victory tomorrow. However, the City team will be without the services of its captain, C. Perkins, which means a greater loss than is usually the case with a team losing only one player. City will give Putaruru a solid game, however, and should win the match, although Putaruru's habit of breaking up the play is liable to upset the strongest of teams at any time. Unless Te Awamutu gives a far better performance than in its last two matches, the team will lose to OKI Boys in the match at Te Awamutu. Old Boys will probably be as handily placed in the championship as any team after tomorrow's games, although the side has only one other match to play compared with City's two games. Raglan lias drawn the bye. On both grounds at Rugby Park tomorrow lower grade representative fixtures will be played, and lower grade competition matches will also continue. A City third grade team will play Pularuru at Putaruru. FULL DETAILS OF GAMES The draw for all matches tomorrow is as follows : Representative—Waikato v. Thames Malloy, at Te Aroha.
