MAGISTRATE'S COURT (Special to Times) TE AROILA, Thursday. At the Magistrate’s Court, Te Aroha. today, before Mr W. 11. Freeman, S.M., Eric Cordon Haddon was charged with making a false alarm of lire on the evening or July :iu. Defendant pleaded guilty and was lined ios and ordered to pay one shining damages. 11. Bridgman, Waitoa, was charged with ofreeing lor sale milk containing 7 per cent of water, and was lined £1 and costs lus. J. R. Horne, for offering for sale milk containing s 5-10ths per cent of added water, was fined £1 and costs 10s. FIRE BOARD MEETING At the quarterly meeting or the Te \n>ha Fire Board, surpvi©** was expressed that the annual boot allowance of £1 wasubject to the social security tax. The superintendent. Mr l*. J'ilkington, ©aid tin* members objected to basing the tax deducted from their allowance. Jin* chairman. Mr It. Coulter, ©aid the allowance was not wage©, and the tax should not base to be ueuucteu. Un the motion of Mr Arthur it wadecided to ask Mr J. oiiling-Butcher lui a ruling. ORPHANS' CLUB Bro. J. A. Hepburn presided at the monthly gathering of the Te Aroha Orphans' club, when a “Scottish .Night ’ was held.
