I WORK FOR TEMPERANCE | ) NEW ZEALAND ALLIANCE MOVE j (By Telegraph. —Press Association) WELLINGTON, Thursday I Acting on the recommendation of its general superintendent, Mr H. W. Milner, the New Zealand Alliance, at, j its annual conference in Wellington ! today, formed a new society in the ; interests of temperance work in the Dominion. The new organisation is to ! be known as the New Zealand Temperance Society. It was stated that the movement was not being formed with a view to replacing the alliance. The society is to carry on vigorous educational work and in the meanj time the alliance is to continue with 1 its efforts toward legislative reform. the object being the ultimate abolition j of the liquor traffic. It was decided also to follow the ! example of the Queensland Temperance Union and establish temperance hotels in the Dominion, the aim being i to provide accommodation under temperance conditions, and also to enable ; endowments to be made for cduca- | tional work. Mr Milner also outlined details of a scheme for the financing of the work of the movement. TemS perance hotels would also be established as monuments to the memory ' of many noble personalities who had J been connected with the movement.
