£50,000 HOME FURNISH PUN Only Good Citizens May Buy And Repay 3d. in £ Weekly A new £50,000 development which came into operation this week enables any good citizen to refit his home with honestly-made furniture at a greatly reduced interest and repayment cost.

It is a Hamilton move to stabilise home furnishing purchases. One restriction is that families who wish to make use of the plan must bear good reputations. Tiie objects of the Scheme are: a. To reduce Interest and repayments so that: b. Those people who really have honest reputations can buy now furniture, etc., that they would anyhow Luy in later years. c. To ensure that the furniture they buy is durable and will last for many years. The plan will conform to the 3d In the £ weekly repayment scheme, with 1/- in the £ deposit. That low rate has been fixed to bring th«* purchase within reach of the average fami>y pocket. A departure from normal business will bb the reduction of the interest yearly, as the principal is reduced. Also, the interest will he charged only on the balance remaining alter the deposit has been paid—not on the full amount. The whole rate works out at 5 per cent, interest, reducible yearly—equal to only 2£ per cent. flat. The scheme is designed to bring an automatic safeguard to the buyer. With the longer time given lor the easy repayments, the furniture must necessarily he of sound workmanship and greater durability. Otherwise, it is pointed out, the furniture would be worn out before the payments were complete. Reliable Furniture Actually the making of reliable furniture and furnishings in restful designs of good taste is a feature of the scheme. The furniture and goods supplied will be as good underneath as they will he attractive on the surface. Tliis is the reason why the scheme will be put through a firm which concentrates on ttie distribution of home furniture and furnishings—Reid's Furnishings Ltd., Collingwood Street, Hamilton. Reid’s activities are confined to home furniture and furnishings. Its staff has been trained and specialised for home furnishings, and the business has developed along those lines. Reid's furniture has also been recognised as long-wearing and reliable. In addition, Reid’s are

already familiar with this class of 3d in the £ weekly repayments. "We are plad to co-operate in this £50,000 development to stabilise home furnishing, and to eliminate the fear people have of Jinding their furniture cheap und snabby beneath the newness," said Mr P. Reid, managing director of Reid's Furnishings Ltd. “The average person is also uneasy about Interest charges, usury and exploitation. This plan makes the Interest and repayments clear and aboveboard. "The plan coincides with my own view. People don’t want cheap, nasty furniture. They want something simple in good taste, so that they will not be ashamed to ask their friends to visit them. They want this furniture at reasonable prices. Must Be Honest "Now," continued Mr Reid, "this plan enables them to choose reasonably guod furniture, furniture that will last for years and keep its condition, at reasonable prices. Providing only they are conscientious people, they can got generous time to pay it off. "In other words, the plan backs the future of the average citizen. The honest man can capitalise now on his future, and get something that will last all his life." The scheme came Into operation this week. It will apply to all household articles, furniture, furnishings and carpets, etc. Allotments will be available from £1 to £IOO. A table showing amounts, deposits necessary and repayments appears below. TABLE culated on the same scale as the above table.
