ORINI NEWS

ENJOYABLE GAMES EVENING (Special to Times) ORINI. Thursday. Organised by the Dramatic Club, as a diversion from the usual play-read-ing, a sports evening was held in the Orini Hall on Tuesday. Those present were divided into eight teams — Cuckoos, Warblers, Penguins, Seagulls, Godwits. Hawks, Tomtits and Moreporks. Table tennis, bagatelle, quoits, deck tennis, darts and bubs were the games indulged in, each game being supervised by an umpire. Teams progressed from one game to the next at the ringing of a bell. At the conclusion of two hours’ play Cuckoos and Warblers were even with 14 points each. A play-off at deck tennis resulted in a win for Cuckoos (Mrs Cartwright, Miss G. Seath, Mr -L. Austen, Mr J. Seath). Prizes were presented by the president. Dancing and supper brought a very enjoyable evening to a close.
