TAUPIRI GO DOWN
TE AWAMUTU STILL WINNING VERY CLOSE GAME On a wet greasy ground at Te Awamutu, Taupiri were defeated by Te Awamutu, 6—o. .Conditions marred good handling, but both teams settled down to a right type of game and an Interesting match was staged.
Te Awamutu’s first spore came when L. La wry received from the line-out and caught the defence napping to soore near the sideline. The kick failed. After further up and down play, Donaldson headed a loose rush which took the play to Taupiri’s line where L. Lawry again crossed alongside the posts. The kick failed. Taupiri had bad luck on two occasions in the following play and was six points down at half-time. There was no score in the second spell, play being very even with both teams trying hard to get the upper hand. The Taupiri backs endeavoured to open up play but the ball was difficult to handle and the movements were too slow. The local forwards were superior in the loose and the backs, particularly Adams and Tombs were very solid in defence. For the winners Borrull was outstanding among the forwards but all shaped well. Taylor was the best of the Taupiri forwards white Robertson was very safe at fullback.
