TILL RIFLED

BUTCHER'S SHOP ENTERED SUM OF £3l REMOVED BURGLARY AT PIRONGIA Between 4.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. yeeterday burglars entered the butcher's shop of Mr W. G Ml I gate, of Plrongia, and removed £3l in notes from the till and a quantity of silver. Entry was gained by forcing the back entrance of the shop, which was unoccupied at the time. Mr A. Shaw, who was in charge, left the building at 4.30 p.m. and an assistant who went home some time later locked the premises. The intruders ripped the gauze top of a rear door away and slid the bolt back. They broke open the till but were apparently 'disturbed as in their haste to make a getaway they dropped several coins on the fioor. The shop was previously entered six weeks ago but on that occasion the thieves secured nothing.
