There is a belief, among some of the tribes over which the Imperial Airways’ flying boats fly in their journeys along the Empire routes, that these 18-ton aircraft are great silver birds and that the motor launches which go out to them are their chicks seeking sustenance. Actually, of course, the motor launches are used to embark passengers and to load mails and freight as well as to refuel the flying boats.
