RECUPERATING IN NEW ZEALAND SINGING TOUR NEXT MONTH Resting quietly in idyllic surroundings at Vauxhall, Dunedin, is Australia's “Queen of Song"—Gladys Moncrieff. There she is recovering from the effects of her accident of 15 months ago. The rest has done her the world of good. Miss Moncrieff is not sitting back reading or admiring the view all the time, states the Dunedin Star. She is rehearsing diligently, at the hands of Gil Dech, a repertoire to be presented to the New Zealand public when she commences her tour on July 24. That will mark the beginning of. eight weeks’ tour, during which she will be accompanied by Mr Dech. who has been her accompanist in the past.. " l ain feeling absolutely terrified about my'first recital." she confided, " but if I get my first song over all right I suppose I shall be all right, too." " Everyone Is Friendly ” Miss Moncrieff has a deep and sincere regard for New Zealand and l'or its people. " Everyone is friendly and cheerful," she said, 44 and it is a lovely country. Since people have begun io learn that I am here 1 have had a lot of nice letters and many requests to sing some of my older songs when I start my tour."
