WAGES REDUCED

HOUSING DEPARTMENT MEN RE-ORGANISATION SCHEME (By Telegraph.—Press Association) AUCKLAND, Friday A re-organisation scheme carried out by the Housing Construction Department in Auckland among the outside staff has resulted in a reduction in the wages of 35 men. The object is stated to be greater efficiency and enonomy. The men involved are for the most part foremen-timekeepers and under-bosses in charge of small groups of men. These have been reduced in status and their pay reduced to award rates. It is staled that the re-organisation is the result of the recent disturbance among the staff in Auckland following the resignation of the inspector in charge. The Auckland staff numbers 500.
