TRADESMEN ARRIVE
SOME ON OWN ACCOUNT WELCOME BY MINISTER (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Thursday The party of skilled tradesmen from England to be brought to New Zealand under arrangements made by the Government, arrived by the Rangitiki today. There are 59 men in the official party, 27 carpenters, 11 bricklayers, 1 o plasterers, eight painters, two electricians and one plumber, in addition there were a number of tradesmen who have come oil their own account. The Minister of Housing, the Hon. 11. T. Armstrong, extended a welcome to the men on behalf of the Government. lie said that of the workers recently brought into the country 98 or 99 per cent had been willing workers and they were perfectly satisfied with conditions here. lie was sure the party had not come to the Dominion expecting something for notiiing and he thought they would not be disappointed.
The men appear to be of line physical type. All the members of the Government party are single men, but some of those who have travelled independently are married and have brought their families.
