SOCIAL SIDE OF DRILL

BATTERY ACTIVITIES OFFICERS FOR THE YEAR Sporting activities which are available to members of the Second Medium Battery of the New Zealand Artillery, Hamilton, are detailed in the annual report of the Battery Social Club, presented at the annual meeting last night. Sporting interests are catered for in football, basketball, badminton, fencing and boxing. The football team is coached by Mr A. St. C. Belcher every Tuesday evening. Provision has been made in the drill hall for both basketball and football practice. The canteen was kept busy during the year with tea served after the parades and at the camps. Social activities of the Battery had not ‘been neglected, in fact it was a very thriving part last winter, a garden party and a dance were the outstanding features of the year. The meeting, over which the Officer Commanding the Battery, Major E. F. Clayton Greene, presided, elected the following officers for the year:— Patron ana honorary member, Mr F. W. Burley; president. Major E. F. Clayton Greene; chairman, Second Lieutenant S. T. Nolan; secretary, Sergeant 1. Johnstone: treasure**, Lance-Sergeant A. N. Hayes; committee, Lance-Sergeant L. F. Bevin. Sergtant J. McCreadie, Sergeant F. T. Nolan Bombadiers T. Moir, F. Neill, Gunner L. Rockeil, Staff-Sergeant N. Oram, R.N.Z.A. Th< annual sports meeting will be held at Steele Pork on July 30.
