DECREASE FROM LAST YEAR (By TelPsrapTi.—Pres* Association! \VELLINGTON, Thursday The approximate number of sheep in the Dominion on April 30, according to an interim return in tonight's Gazette, was 31.-857,549, a decrease of 521.225 on 1938. The figures for the North and South Islands arc: North Island, 17,407,492, decrease. 298,507; South Island, 14.450,057, decrease, 222.718. The only districts in which increases were recorded were Marlborough, Nelson. Westland (30,220) and Otago 021-6,883).
