PIG BREEDERS
NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION INCREASE IN MEMBERSHIP WHANGAREI, Wednesday “The establishment of pig ciubs has certainly created a demand for pedigree stock and the increase in membership, registration and transfers of the association is in a great measure attributable to the pig club movement, states the annual report which will be presented by the president, Mr G. S. Ross, of Te Puke, to the annual meeting of the New Zealand Pig Breeders’ Association. The report regrets that little progress has been made in the lifting of the so-called embargo or the granting of financial assistance by the Government to breeders who are prepared to import and are put to considerable expense through having to import through back-door channels. In spite of an increase in expenses a satisfactory profit of £370, this being £7O m excess of the previous
! year, is shown as the result of the year's workings. Mr R. D. Kerr has been elected unopposed to replace Mr A. J. Haynes, who has been obliged to retire as representative of the Auckland ward. Mr James Simpson has been re-elected unopposed for the South Island ward, j while to fill the other vacancies the 1 following nominations have been re- i ceived:—Soutli Auckland, Mr G. ' Jamieson (City) and Mr C. S. Mexted; Wellington North, Mr \V. I*. Bicker--1 (City) and Mr 11. E. Thurston.
