W.E.A. GROUP

FORMATION IN MATAMATA As the result of a meeting held in Matamata, a group of the Workers’ Educational Association was formed to study the subject, ‘'Language and Society.” Mr J. McLean presided and the meeting was addressed by Mr E. M. Higgins, 8.A., who gave an instructive lecture on European affairs. At the conclusion of the address a discussion took place and it was decided to form the W.E.A. study group, Mrs N. Gilling offering the use of her home for meetings. Miss Greville pointed out that this would be the second group in Matamata. there already being a group which met at Mrs Schofield’s residence to discuss the Pan-Pacific Women's Conference.
