POTATO PRICES

INCREASE MUST BE NOTIFIED (Ey Telegraph.—Prf'ss Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday Potatoes are among the goods the prices of which arc to be watched by the recently appointed Price Investigation Tribunal. Mr 11. L. Wise, one of the two members of the tribunal, slates that potatoes are not considered a perishable commodity within the meaning of the regulations and that price increases will therefore have to be notified to the tribunal. Mr Wise gave this information after conferring with the president of the tribunal, Mr Justice Hunter, adding that this was the tribunal's present Asked if merchants, as well as retailers, would have to notify price increases, Mr Wise replied in the affirmative. The regulations, he said, applied to wholesalers, retailers, and where goods were manufactured, to manufacturers.
