THE SUCCESSFUL WOMAN

MANY QUALITIES NECESSARY In these days of keen competition, when nearly every trade and profession is overcrowded, only the woman of outstanding ability and untiring energy can claim success in any walk of life. A combination of many qualities i> necessary for she who wishes to rise above her fellow-workers, but qualities which are necessary in some eases are useless in others. Different eareers naturally call for different talents in Ihe followers and therefore the woman who wishes to succeed must consider the requirements of the occupation to which she u> most at-

traded and choose the one which suits her the best. An exceptionally clever woman may not prosper at all in following a trade or profession at. which a woman of greatly inferior intellect has succeeded brilliantly, simply because the former was not suited for that particular type of work. Even strictly practical people, however, must admit that luck plays a more or less prominent part in everyone's life and many failures as well as many successes may be traced to this source. Luck, however, is much abused by those of greatly limited abilities who are inclined to give it the credit of all their misfortunes. A Certain Amount of Foresight One finds that there are no definite rules which, if followed, lead to success. Howe\ er. in order In achieve even average success, a woman must be energetic and able to throw herself

whole-heartedly into her work, and she should therefore never persevere with an occupation which she dislikes, for no matter what effort she exerts j she will not bring forth the same rei suits as she would with a career to : which she was really attracted. A j woman also requires a certain amount !of foresight for one naturally becomes discouraged if one finds difficulty in obtaining a position and she i should therefore choose something which is not too overcrowded. Another j thing the would-be successful woman j should always remember is that it is j not worth undermining the health even for the most brilliant, career. of course to he successful a woman must be unquestionably honest, and. no i matter how tempted she may be. she { must ne\er play with her honesty for | it has brought downfall to hundreds. It. has been said, and it is perfectly true, that the of success is to 1 know how to wait and the woman who * wishes to succeed must not ruin sound deal- b\ over-hast> action, but on the I other hand she should remember that “nothing venture nothing gam ’ i We find* therefore, th&t & woman's

success is due more to her own qualifications than such thing's as chance, environment, and influence.
