THEFT FROM DEPARTMENT

TOURIST BUREAU OFFICER (B.V WELLINGTON, Wednesday Arrested on Monday on a charge of the theft of sums totalling £219, the property of the Tourist Bureau, John Fitzgerald appeared before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., to-day. He pleaded guilty and Avas committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Evidence given by the district manager of the Tourist Bureau Avas to the effect that accused, on transfer back to the Railway Department, had failed to hand over in proper manner, and a j check of his accounts and his stock of railway tickets, freight and travel stamps revealed the shortage. Witness recounted a conversation in Avhich accused said: “I’ll admit it,” and added that he alone Avas responsible for the shortage.
