REDUCED COSTS

SOLUTION TO FARMING PROBLEMS (By Telegraph—Press Association) ASHBURTON, Wednesday About 400 farmers attended a meeting called by the Mid-Canterbury provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union to consider farming problems and to hear an address by the Dominion president. Mr W. W. Mulholland. The following resolution was carried: —“This meeting believes the only sound policy of improving the lot of the farmer lies along the line of reduced costs. With that end in view, we are of opinion that the work of the Royal Commission should be pushed rapidly forward. Should reductions fail to materialise prior to the next export season, we then strongly support the freeing of the exchange as a medium of bringing about a more balanced economy.”
