Mr W. J. Sheehan, president of the Tasmanian Chamber of Manufacturers and manager of the Alexander Patent Racquet Company, who is in Wellington owing lo the heavy drop in business resulting from import control, intimated in an interview that if the economic aspects were not unfavourable his company would probably link up with one of the existing New Zealand manufacturers. Two difficulties were that the timber must be imported, and the smallness of the market. He said he thought the New Zealand Government should have encouraged industries that supplied a wide demand, while leaving the limited industries to overseas suppliers.
