TE AROHA WEDDING
SMITH—ELMIGER PINK VELVET FROCK A charming wedding was celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, Te Aroha, when -Vary, only daughter of Mr and Mrs L. Elmiger, Ngarua, was married to Wilfred James, elder son of Mr and Mrs J- Smith, Hawera. The Rev. Father J. P. Murphy officiated, and Miss Beverley Stubbs played the wedding music. During the ceremony Miss M. Missen, of Auckland, sang “Ave Maria.” The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of shell "pink silk velvet, the bodice being shirred in the front with a heart-shaped neckline, and the back being trimmed with silver buttons from the neck to the waist. The long sleeves came to points over the hands. Her tulle veil was embroidered and fell to form a long train. The headdress was of shell pink orange blossom arranged with a cluster on either side of the head, and she carried a bouquet of roses, carnations, dahlias and asparagus fern. The bride was attended by Misses Lena and Pauline Steiner, of Springdale, as bridesmaids, who wore dresses cut on similar lines, the former wearing nile green and the latter sky blue silk velvet. Both dresses had dainty shirred bodices and elbow-length sleeves. The bodices came to a point at ttie waistline, and were trimmed with silver buttons from neck to waist They wore shoulder-length veils fashioned to form caps, and carried bouquets of roses and dahlias. Little Margaret Vickers, the flowergirl, wore a rose pink silk velvet dress with a long full skirt attached to a yoke trimmed with silver bows in front and silver buttons at the back and with short puffed sleeves. Mr Eric smith, of ITawera, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man, and Mr W. Elmiger was groomsman. ’ The Reception The reception was held at the Palace Hotel, Te Ar-oha, where the guests
were received by the bride’s parents. Mrs Elmiger wore a costume of rust ribbed tweed, brown model hat and skunk stole. She carried a bouquet of autumn-tinted flowers. The bridegroom’s mother was attired in a navy blue ensemble and a navy hat. She carried a bouquet of autumn-tinted flowers. Mr and Mrs Smith left by car foi Wellington, via the Bay of Plenty, the bride wearing a navy tailored suit, skunk stole, and navy hat. Their future home will be at Ngarua.
