THE ENGLISH MARKETS TALLOW, HEMP AND FRUIT WELLINGTON, Tuesday The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London, dated 19th instant: Tallow.—The market continues quiet. The present spot quotations are:—Mutton: Fine, 235; good, 20s; fair, 16s to 16s 6d. Reef: Fine, none; good, 17s; fair, 15s 6d to 16s. Mixed: Good, 17s; fair, 15s 6d to 16s; gut. 13s 6d to 15s. Mutton: Dark to dull, lis 6d to 16s. Beef: Dark to dull, 13s 6d to 15s.

Hemp.—Manila: The market continues dull, with values unchanged. Sisal: The market is quiet and easier, closing value May-July shipment, being £l6 15s. New Zealand: There is nothing to report. Fruit.—Arawa pears, Jlangitata apples and pears, discharged in good condition London. There is fair demand. with prices practically unchanped. The following are the market values of sound-conditioned fruit of the varieties mentioned, the range

of prices generally representing the difference between the several grades and/or counts. Variable-conditioned fruit of similar varieties proportionately less in value: —Cox's Orange Apples, 9s to 15s: Ballarat Apples, 10s to 11s; Dunn’s Favourite Apples, 9s Gd to 10s Gd; Jonathan, Delicious. Cleopatra Apples, 9s to 11s; Lord W’olseley Apples, 9s to 10s; Comice Pears, 11s to 12s; P. Barry, Beurre Rose Pears, 10s: Winter Cole Pears, 8s 6d to 9s Gd; Beurre Clairgeau Pears, 8s to 9s.
