Copyright) (Received April 18, 3.18 p.m.) LONDON, April 17 Mr Neville Chamberlain will make a statement on the International situation in the House of Commons on April 18. It is expected he will announoe Turkey’s oloser association with the alliance against aggression. The Times’ diplomatic correspondent says Mr Chamberlain will probably assure the House of Commons of the satisfactory progress of the conversations for the organisation of Eastern Euro- , pean security and the conversations with Moscow, which concerned the manner whereby English, French and Soviet assistance will be available to threatened States. Turkish diplomacy continues active, with a view to promoting Balkan unity. The progress of the Serbian-Croat conversations are being anxiously watched. In this connection the rumours of the concentration of hostile troops in the neighbourhood of Gibraltar are not taken too seriously. SERBS AND CROATB SETTLEMENT OF PROBLEMS SELF-GOVERNMENT PROBABLE 'United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received April 18, 3.15 p.m.) ZAGREB, April 17 The Prime Minister has agreed to a basis of discussion of Serbo-Croat problems. A further conference will be held after reference to the parties. It is understood that the agreement provides for the uniting of the two Croat provinces, in which there are 4,500,000 Croats, and the granting of self-government, the Central Government continuing control of defence, finance and foreign policy. The proposals will be presented to Parliament by the new Government, in which the Croats are represented. FUTURE OF ALBANIA FOUNDING OF FASCIST PARTY ALBANIAN SOLDIERS FOR ROME United Press As^n.—Elec. Tel Cno.vrl*nt (Received April 18, 3.15 p.m.) ROME, April 17 The status of the Italian Minister in Albania has been raised to Ambassador. The secretary of the Fascist Party will go to Tirana on April 23 to found a Fascist Party. The Albanian Army will be represented in the military review in Rome on May 9, and an Albanian regiment is being quartered in Rome permanently.

Fantasque are patrolling tlie straits. The destroyers Boulonnais, Foudroyant and Brestois have arrived. PARIS, April 17 The possibility of a totalitarian move against Tangier* is believed to be the reason for the concentration. It is reported that there are large numbers of Italian sailors in Tangier, although there is no warship there.

STRENGTHENING ITS EFFICIENCY VOTE OF £5,555,000 YEARLY (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received April 18, 3.15 p.m.) ROME, April 17 An extraordinary annual appropriation of £5,555,000 for ten years is announced to “strengthen the army’s fighting efficiency.’’ It is reliably stated that it is required mainly for Albania, Libya and the French frontier.
