GARDEN PARTY

MEMBERS OF GARDENING CIRCLE Members of the gardening circle at Gordonton and friends spent a happy afternoon last Thursday at the home of Mrs 11. W. •Cleland, the occasion being to bid farewell to a fellow member, Mrs D. Sainsbury, who is leaving on a holiday trip to England early next month. Clock igolf was played on the lawn, and won by Mrs Sainsbury, and a competition enjoyed, the winner being Mrs E. McMullen. Afternoon tea was served in the garden, where the flower beds presented a blaze of colour. On behalf of the gardening circle, Mrs Proctor asked the guest-of-hon-our to accept a handsomely bound cruise book with best wishes for a pleasant journey, and safe return. A lovely bouquet in autumn shades was also handed Mrs Sainsbury, who suitably expressed her thanks and appreciation. Musical hono*urs were then accorded tlie guest-of-honour, and later all present autographed the cruise book. Mrs Cleland received her guests in a frock of crushed strawberry cloque, and Mrs Sainsbury \yas wearing figured silk pique. Those present were: —Mesdames Proctor, G. McMullen, K. Borman, D.
