SYSTEM IN AUSTRALIA LEADING OFFICIAL’S VISIT (By Telegraph.—Press Association) INVERCARGLL, Monday Among the passengers who arrived by the Maunganui to-day was Mr Louis Monod, secretary of the Royal Agricultural Society, Victoria, who will make a holiday tour of the South and North Islands. His society held its annual show in September and did not clash with other state agricultural shows as each state held its own Royal Show. He said there was keen inter-state competition from breeders. Exhibitors from the four states regularly competed at Melbourne. Sometimes five states were represented. The last show was the 67th held by the society. it was the first complete day and night show and lasted nine days and eight nights.
CONFERENCE AT BLENHEIM CENTENNIAL ARRANCEMENTS (By Telegraph.—Press Association) BLENHEIM, Monday The bi-annual conference of Hie New Zealand Athletic. Cycling and Axemens’ Union was held at Blenheim over the week-end when delegates from all branches were present in large numbers. Remits dealing with revision of the rules were dealt with and it was resolved to arrange a championship cash sports meeting in conjunction with the Centennial celebrations and to apply to participate in profits from the proposed sports art union. Mr A. J. Fisher of Blenheim, was elected a life member. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr H. H. Fraser (Timaru) ; vice-presidents. Messrs A. J. Fisher (Blenheim), J. T. Qualter (Gore). W. J. Walker (Christchurch), J. Col lingwood (Wanganui), C. Church (Gisborne), G. E. Perkins (Greymoutli), D. George New Plymouth), J. Coffey (Christchurch), and 0. R. Cook Waipukurau) ; secretary-treasurer, Mr A. D. MacCartney (Napier).
At a meeting in London the Archbishop of Canterbury invited the governments of the different nations in the world to consider seriously what could be done to help the exiled" Jews.
The large Autarchy exhibition in Rome is nearing its completion. The picture shows the entrance to' the pavilion for inventions and explorations, above which can be read in big characters: •'Mussolini ; c always right 1”
Miss Unity Mitford, daughter of Lord Redesdale, and close friend of Hitler, has aften been mentioned for her great sympathies for the Nazis. She is seen photographed before her first political meeting in London,
