ATTEMPTED BURGLARY?

TWO MEN REMANDED SEQUEL TO CONSTABLE'S CHASE (By Telegraph—Press Association) AUCKLAND, Monday Two men appeared in the Police Court to-day charged with attempting to break and enter a Wyndham Street jeweller’s shop late on Saturday. Johq Cozens (37), a painter, was chafged with being a rogue and vagabond and with being in possession of housebreaking implements and Cozens and George Smale (44), motor mechanic, were jointly charged with attempting to enter the jewellery shop. Both were remanded until Thursday.

Late on Saturday evening Constable E. A. Morrissey saw two men emerge from the doorway of Timewell and Company, jewellers and watchmakers, Auckland. They took to their heels and the constable gave chase, one man being arrested shortly afterwards. The glass panel of the shop door was smashed.
