MORRINSVILLE SALE VALUKB FOR SHEEP TOTAL CLEARANCE EFFECTED (Times Special Reporter) MORRINSVILLE. Friday Morrinsville .upheld its reputation as one of the principal store sheep centres in the North Island to-day j when at the weekly stock sale over 16,000 breeding ewes were yarded. The bulk of these were ex-Tokomaru Bay but large consignments were also j offered from Ashhurst and Levin. As \ with last week the market for good j quality sheep was very firm but a , slacker tone prevailed for older ewes : lacking condition. The best of a line of two-tooth ex Levin ewes made 26s J lOd while maiden ewes from the same source sold from 24s 3d. Four and : six-tooth ewes from the East Coast i brought a keen inquiry from a large I bench of Waikato and Auckland buy- j ers. The best of these were knocked i down at 25s lOd while similar sheep from southern stations cleared at 22s Bd. For four and five-year ewes from Tokomaru Bay 21s 2d was paid, while four-year Levin ewes made t9s Bd. A total clearance was effected over the early sales. There was a large yarding of store and cull lambs and prices for these | were on a par with latest quotations, best stores making to 16s, while ; lighter lambs were traded from 9s to 11s. An average yarding of fat sheep sold i on a par with last week’s rates best ! wethers making to 19s and ranging ! from 16s 9d. Fat ewes sold from 6s j 9d to 9s 6d and lambs from 17s to 19s 3d.
