When digging among the remains of an old Maori settlement at the Wairau Bar a few days ago a small boy discovered an old grave in which were a Maori skeleton and an almost perfect specimen of a rnoa's egg about 9in. long and Cin. in diameter. In view of the fact that so far as is known only four perfect rnoa’s eggs have been ■found in New Zealand it is felt that Ihe specimen would make a valuable addition to a museum collection.

Level Crossing Offence "He seems to have been a careless driver,” said Mr J. Dillicar dissenting. ’Planes Over Hamilton Provided that the weather is fine, both the north and southbound Lockheed Electra ’planes of Union Airways will be deviated from their normal courses on January 30 and will pass over Hamilton, flying low over the regatta course on the Waikato River. Advice to this effect was received today by Mr R. R. V. Challiner, Hamilton agent for Union Airways. The southbound air liner will be the first to arrive over Hamilton, said Mr Challiner, passing over about 12.30 p.m., while the northbound ’plane may be expected at 2 p.m.

Hayes Paddock Work While attention has been focussed during the last, fortnight on the removal of Garden Place Hill, work on the other major borough development, that of preparing Hayes Paddock for Plate housing, has been proceeding sleadily. stated Mr R.
