FIRE IN GULLY

BOROUGH TIP ABLAZE ' NIGHT PATROL BY BRIGADE With fire spreading from the Hamilton Borough Council's rubbish tip in the Whitiora gully to set ablaze the gorse and scrub in the entire gully, some of the houses in the vicinity were endangered until the Hamilton fire brigade was culled. After four or five hours the brigade extinguished the outbreak and no damage was done to property. The fire broke out shortly before 3 a.m. to-day. One machine was dispatched from the fire station and the firemen remained at the scene until later this morning.
