’Possum’s Slide
“Little rascals, and remarkably Intelligent." is the considered opinion of opossums held by a camper at a west coast holding resort. “1 woke one night to hear* a regular ‘swisss-plop. swisssh-plop ’ from somewhere neat at hand," she said. “I couldn’t make it out for a while, and then ! discovered that some half a dozen opossums were using the roof of my tent for n sort of toboggan slide. They would climb along the ridge pole and one after another go glissading down the slope of the canvas into the fern alongside. I waited until one wus in the middle if a slide, then heaved at the canvas with both hands. The little fellow sailed through the air, to land a dozen yards away—swearing like a trooper.’’
