A New Zealand Cruise The liner Otranto sailed from Brisbane to-day on a New Zealand cruise. Blade, of Ulster Street, Hamilton, where he was staying- on holiday, Albert Marsden (8), son of Mrs Albert Marsden, of Great South Road. Auckland, fell yesterday and suffered a fractured leg. He was taken to the Waikato Hospital and his condition today is reported to be satisfactory. Taxi-driver Assaulted Violently assaulted by a Maori passenger, a Rotorua taxi-driver, Mr William Norton, had a fortunate escape from more serious injury early on Saturday morning. He was admitted to the Rotorua Hospital with a fairly severe gash on the head. A constable found a piece of iron piping lying near the car. Detective A. J. White, of Hamilton, is investigating. Heavy Air Traffic In spite of a gusty north-easterly wind, which frequently reached a velocity of 60 miles an heur at the Rongotai aerodrome on Saturday, only a few Cook Strait Airways trips between Wellington, Blenheim and Nelson were cancelled. The majority of services were flown according to schedule, and the New Year traffic was much heavier than in the same period last year.

Yacht Capsizes When a yacht capsized off Paraparaumu Beac-h, Wellington, on Saturday an aeroplane ready to drop lifebelts put out from Rongotai but a rescue had been effected when it arrived. After capsizing the yacht drifted about three miles with the four people clinging to it, before they were rescued by dinghies which set out from Paraparaumu Beach, after they had been in the water about an hour.
