DOMESTIC TROUBLES

AFFAIRS OF FILM COMEDIAN THIRD WIFE SEEKS DIVORCE ANONYMOUS TELEPHONE CALLS £ United Press Assn.—Elec. TeL Copyright) HOLLY’WOOD, Dec. 30 The wife whom Stanley Laurel, the film comedian, married three times, with civil, Russian and Orthodox ceremonies, has filed a petition for divorce, charging that the comedian's former wife constantly harassed her and caused the fire department to “come bursting into her home at ungodly hours.” She added that she was also besieged with anonymous telephone calls and unsigned letters. After receiving a decree absolute in divorce in January of this year, Laurel married the Russian singer Ileana, whose real name is Vera Shuvalova.

His former wife, Ruth Rogers, tried to prevent the marriage by declaring that the divorce was nut legal. This failed, but she caused so much annoyance that Laurel applied for Court protection. In reply to this his former wife lodged an affidavit alleging the divorce was obtained fraudulently, but the Court validated the divorce and the remarriage of the comedian. Ruth Rogers was his second wife, his first being Lois Neilson.
