Mr Anderson Tyrer, English composer and pianist, who has been examining for Trinity College of Music in the Welling ton district, left Lyttelton yesterday by the Akaroa for London.

The Rev. E. M. Enright, of Owaka, Otago, and formerly of Hamilton, has accepted a call to the pastorate of the Spreydon Baptist Church, Christchurch.

Captain R. S. Lewis, marine superintendent for the Auckland district, has been appointed one of the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's attorneys in New Zealand, and also a member of their New Zealand advisory board representing the Auckland district.

Captain M. J. C. de Meric, M.V.0., who has commanded several destroyers and the cruisers Diomede and Dunedin in New Zealand, joined the Admiralty on December 1 as assistantDirector of Naval Equipment. He recently completed three years in command of the cruiser Apollo in the West Indies.

After nearly 24 years’ service as Archdeacon of Auckland, the Ven. G. MacMurrav retires from that office to-day and assumes the title of archdeacon emeritus. The Archdeacon, who was 83 in August and celebrated his ministerial diamond jubilee on December 22, has been a resident of Auckland for 46 vears.

Mr F. C. Menzies, Crown Solicitor for Victoria, and brother of Mr J. L. Menzies, assistant-Australian Trade Commissioner in New' Zealand, and Dr. J. L. Higgle, a leading Melbourne surgeon. are on a brief visit to New Zealand. They are on tour in the South Island and later will visit Rotorua and other points of interest in the North Island.
