TE AROHA CARNIVAL DISPLAY BY CHILDREN (Special lo Times) TE AROHA, Friday A large crowd of spectators watched the children's fancy dress parade, the opening event in the Te Aroha New Year carnival, which took place in line weather to-day. Headed by the Te Aroha Pipe Band, the juveniles paraded down the main street to Merries Memorial Park, where some 500 children gathered. The judging resulted as follows:—Group Mulch windmill); D. Flower day, X. Cross and J. Lloyd. Decorated pram: Joan Land, 1; Joan liitrhie, 2; Coleen Petersen, 3. Decorated cycle: .loan Darby, 1: Doreen Markham, 2; Audrey Curtis, 3. Poster costume: Nola Slight. 1: Barbara Land. *2. Frog club special: Pat Fryer. Carnival specials: Margaret Ritchie, Margaret Ericson. Most original: Jack Price, 1: Kevin Curran, 2; M. Colson, 3. Window spoiling competition; Kevin Curran, I : Donald Thomas, 2. Trolley derby: S. and L. Willowes, 1; 11. and M. Gray. 2. Best boy: Alf. Land, I ; Terry Darby, 2: J. Prince, 3: Best girl: June Prince, 1; Olwyn Ericson, 2. Over GO entries were received for the baby show and awards were as follows: —Under nine months: Colleen Hunger, 1; Colin Campbell, 2; Mary Magill, 3. Specials: Kay Balev and Alber* Manson. Nine to IS months: Keith Hill, 1: Lewis Baker, 2; Wallace Martin, 3. Specials: Heather Manson J and Beverley Baker. Maori award: Baby Turner.
