NO SHORTAGE

MEN FOR HARVESTING STATEMENT BY MINISTER SURPRISE AT WAIKATO REPORT (By Telegraph—Press Association) AUCKLAND, Thursday “ I am assured by my officers that every applicant for labour for haymaking has been supplied,” said the Minister of Labour, the 'Hon. P.' C. Webb, replying to a Waikato report that- difficulty was experienced in obtaining sufficient labour to carry out operations rapidly. “My officers,” said the Minister, “ guarantee to supply every man required for harvesting. There is definitely no shortage and I am amazed that such a statement should emanate from the Waikato.

“ As men are required for harvesting they will be taken from Scheme 13. There are more available than will be required. All that is required is reasonable time for the transfer of the men. I have spoken to Farmers’ Union officials and they have agreed to co-operate with me.”
