WAIKATO CRICKETERS PROVINCIAL CHAMPfONBHIP POVERTY BAY WIN EASILY (Special to Times^ AUCKLAND, Thursday The Waikato eleven suffered ft 8 second defeat, in the Auckland Provincial cricket, championsh'p tournament yesterday, when it met Poverty Bay. Waikato won the toss and sent Poverty Ray in to bat on a perfect wicket. The result was that the term ran up the excellent, score of 341 f< r six and declared. Roth D. A. W*lls and M. Hitchcock secured three wickets for 28. Suburban’s total was helped considerably by a 43 from R. Robinson. Bentley was the main Colts bowler, taking six for 36 and when Suburban were put out for 83 in their second knock he took eight for 30. HAMILTON LOSE COUNTRY WEEK TOURNEY PUKEKOHE’S GREAT BATTING (Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Thursday An excellent opening partnership by the Pukekohe team paved the way for their victory by an innings and 73 runs over Hamilton in the Country Week tournament yesterday. Pukekohe had two wickets down for 254 and declared, Lawrie making 100 not out and Blake 109, retired. Hamilton were all out for 73, Gall (17) being the only batsman to reach double figures. Oien took four for 25. Batting again, Hamilton was dismissed for 108, Senior making a good 49 and T. Ganiev 20. Johnson held the bowling honours for Pukekohe, taking four for 52.
