CANTERBURY TITLES GUNN DEFEATS A. D. BROWN (By Telegraph—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday The defeat of A. D. Brown, New Zealand and Canterbury champion, by J. W. Gunn, of Auckland, was the outstanding feature of to-day's play in the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association's annual tournament. Brown and Gunn were formerly team mates in Auckland, but Brown has recently taken up residence in Canterbury and has established himself as the province’s No. 1 player. His defeat by Gunn, therefore, was all the more sur - prising in view of his previous good form. The men’s singles semi-finalists are Gunn, H. A. Barnett, C. Angas and J. T. Mayson.
