Mr Walter Finery, excavating in a cemetery at a depth of 30ft. in the neighbourhood of the Step Pyramid, discovered the only Egyptian tomb that has so far been found intact with its treasures. The tomb belonged, to a nobleman of the Second Dynasty (4M4-4212 8.G.). Even the meal of fish, meat, game and cakes provided on alabaster plates for the dead was still recognisable in spite of the passage of 60u0 years*
